With just 7 weeks to go until Seachtain na Gaeilge 2010 officially kicks off we are thrilled to announce that Aoibhínn Ní Shúilleabháin & Danny O’ Reilly are the ambassadors of this year’s festival.

Aoibhínn who was raised in a bi-lingual household in Co. Mayo is a teacher, broadcaster, winner of the 2005 Rose of Tralee and was recently voted Ireland’s number 1 ‘Sexiest Female TV Star’ in the RTÉ Guide! Dublin-born musician and songwriter Danny is lead singer with trendy pop-rock group ‘The Coronas’. He featured with the band on Seachtain na Gaeilge’s album Ceol 08 and is a lover of the Irish language.

Speaking to Seachtain na Gaeilge Aoibhínn says: “I’m thrilled to be involved with Seachtain na Gaeilge 2010 and feel very privileged to be an ambassador for the Irish language during the festival. Seachtain na Gaeilge is such a great opportunity for everyone to experiment and have some fun with their ‘cúpla focail’ whether it be saying, “Go raibh maith agat” to the bus driver or gossiping with your friends over a cup of tea!”

Organisations, groups and clubs are reminded to register their events on the Seachtain na Gaeilge website as soon as possible so they can be included in the published national programme  and so we can spread the word about all your events!
